The Early Days – Where It All Began

Born on 10th October in Prayagraj, which was called Allahabad back then, Dr. Meena Mishra is the eldest of three siblings. Her father, Late Dr. S.N. Tiwari, was a well-known General Surgeon in Allapur, and her mother, Late Smt. Vidya Tiwari, was a devoted homemaker. She was deeply spiritual, disciplined, and raised the children with strong values.
“From a young age, I remember hearing my mother say to someone, “I want my daughter to become a doctor.” That wish stayed with me and soon became my dream too” says Dr. Mishra.

A Dream Takes Root

Dr. Meena studied at St. Mary’s Convent School till Class 10. “I was always focused, and when I realized that UP board was better for medical entrance exams than ISC Board, I changed my school and sought admission in St. Anthony’s Convent on my own!”
According to Dr. Meena Mishra, in Class 11, something special happened. Her biology teacher, Ms. Abha, praised her dissection of the intact Nerve Ring of an earthworm and said, “Doctor Sahab, I don’t call you Doctor just like that—I visualize you in the white coat before you will do.”
“She even called me “Sardar Patel” at times—maybe she saw some strength in me I hadn’t seen in myself yet” recalls Dr. Mishra.
Sadly, she lost her mother in 1993 just after giving her first medical entrance exam. But she didn’t give up. She studied hard to make her mother’s dream come true—and finally, in 1994, cracked the national exam and got into NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur.
